Pain is considered the cardinal symptom in rheumatology. Nociceptive pain is generally well identified and responds to analgesics, whereas neuropathic pain is often unrecognized. In particular, around 40% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) experience persistent pain despite disease control, suggesting an associated neuropathic component. Our study highlighted a high prevalence of neuropathic pain associated with RA, hence the need for early detection and appropriate management.
