Nasenpolypen (NP) sind eine chronisch entzündliche Erkrankung der Nasenschleimhaut; es wird vermutet, dass oxidative Belastung an ihrer Entstehung beteiligt ist. Wachstumsdifferenzierungsfaktor 15 (GDF-15), natriuretisches Peptid vom B-Typ (BNP) und ischämiemodifiziertes Albumin (IMA) sind Biomarker, die insbesondere bei der Früherkennung und Nachsorge von Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen eingesetzt werden. Diese Marker sind dafür bekannt, dass sie bei oxidativem Stress, der durch einige kardiovaskuläre Erkrankungen verursacht wird, ansteigen. Es wird auch angenommen, dass oxidativer Stress bei der Pathogenese von Nasenpolypen eine Rolle spielt. In diesem Buch diskutiere ich die Ergebnisse von Studien, die die Konzentrationen von Herzmarkern bei Patienten mit Nasenpolypen untersucht haben. Ausgehend von diesem Standpunkt erwähne ich auch andere Faktoren, die bei der Pathogenese von Nasenpolypen eine Rolle spielen.
