L’obiettivo di questo libro è indagare se e come la narrativa guineana abbia mostrato, e mostri tuttora, un’attenzione che trascende la forma estetica e si rivolge al problema della costruzione nazionale e identitaria. Basandosi sugli studi culturali e postcoloniali, che permettono un dialogo tra diverse posizioni teoriche e critiche, e sull’inequivocabile interrelazione tra letteratura e lingua/e, questo studio intreccia il discorso narrativo con quello storico, culturale e politico in una prospettiva transdisciplinare. Il corpus è costituito da opere di Abdulai Sila, Odete Semedo, Filomena Embaló, Filinto de Barros, Carlos-Edmilson M. Vieira, Domingas Samy e Marinho de Pina. Ciò che emerge è che, nel mondo fittizio della narrativa letteraria guineana, la consapevolezza della propria posizione di confine è pensata attraverso frequenti dialoghi con eventi e personaggi storici, la messa in scena dell’oralità e le scelte linguistiche degli scrittori.
