Różnorodni naukowcy współpracujący w ramach nanostomatologii będą opracowywać wyniki badań o potencjalnym zastosowaniu medycznym: w profilaktyce, diagnostyce i leczeniu chorób człowieka, a także w łagodzeniu bólu. Nanostomatologia umożliwi utrzymanie niemal idealnego stanu jamy ustnej. Funkcje nanorobotyki mogą być kontrolowane przez wbudowany nanokomputer, który wykonuje zaprogramowane instrukcje w odpowiedzi na bodźce z lokalnych czujników. Przyszłość nanodentystyki będzie zależała od racjonalnego projektowania materiałów i narzędzi nanotechnologicznych w oparciu o szczegółowe i dogłębne zrozumienie procesów biologicznych, a nie od wymuszania zastosowań niektórych materiałów, które są obecnie modne. Projekt ten dostarczy stomatologom i naukowcom wiedzy na temat obecnych i przyszłych zastosowań nanotechnologii w dziedzinie stomatologii.
