Negli ultimi anni, le nanotecnologie sono diventate uno dei più importanti ed entusiasmanti campi d’avanguardia della fisica. Essa promette di fornirci, nel prossimo futuro, molte scoperte che cambieranno la direzione dei progressi tecnologici in un’ampia gamma di applicazioni. La nanotecnologia è lo studio della manipolazione su scala atomica e molecolare. In generale, la nanotecnologia si occupa dello sviluppo di materiali, dispositivi o altre strutture che possiedono almeno una dimensione compresa tra 1 e 100 nm. In questo libro sono stati sintetizzati nanomateriali semiconduttori di CdS puri e CdS drogati con ioni di metalli di transizione mediante metodo solvotermico assistito da microonde. Per preparare le nanoparticelle di CdS puro, abbiamo scelto la tioacetamide come fonte di solfuro. È molto più facile per la tioacetamide rilasciare ioni solfuro. Questo sarà utile per abbassare la temperatura di reazione e abbreviare il periodo di reazione. Inoltre, abbiamo scelto il glicole etilenico, non tossico, come solvente. Questo è più favorevole all’ambiente. I materiali precursori trattati a microonde, dopo il lavaggio con acqua deionizzata e alcool e dopo la ricottura, portano a una polvere fine e nanocristallina.
