Ziel dieser Studie ist es, eine kritische Reflexion über die Darstellungen der Printmedien zum Thema Indigene in Rondônia zwischen 1981 und 1985 zu präsentieren. Es handelt sich um eine kulturgeschichtliche Studie, bei der die geschriebene Presse, die hier als Repräsentation verstanden wird, als Quelle verwendet wurde. Der methodische Ansatz war seriell und verwendete Techniken der Inhaltsanalyse, um die Texte zu behandeln, zu systematisieren und zu bearbeiten. Die Konzepte der Hegemonie und der Kulturindustrie wurden bei der Suche nach einem Verständnis der Manipulationen der Nachrichten in Bezug auf die Darstellungen der Indianer verwendet, die mehrdeutig und willkürlich in eine Art Spiel des Konsenses und der hegemonialen Auseinandersetzungen eingefügt wurden. Die Zeitspanne wird als eine Periode der Beschleunigung mehrerer Zeiten und der Rekonstruktion von physischen und imaginären Räumen in Rondônia charakterisiert, die durch einen intensiven Migrationsprozess in das Land der Vorsehung und das neue Eldorado verursacht wurde.
