Использование лекарственных растений для лечения болезней - практика, которая всегда применялась и была широко распространена в Мозамбике. Эфирные масла представляют собой сложные смеси вторичных метаболитов, выделенных из различных частей растений. В связи с расширением использования этих ароматических соединений были проведены исследования, которые привели к разработке новых продуктов. Учитывая широкое использование ароматических растений, мы провели данное исследование с целью оценки антимикробной активности и химического состава эфирных масел из высушенных листьев видов Cymbopogom citratus, Lantana camara, Lippia javanica, Ocimum americanum, Ocimum basilicum и Plectranthus sp. - группы растений, широко используемых в народной медицине в районе Монтепуэс. Эфирные масла были извлечены методом гидродистилляции в аппарате Клевенджера. Эфирные масла, активные против трех использованных микроорганизмов, включали Cymbopogom citratus, Lippia javanica, Ocimum americanum и Ocimum basilicum. Классы вторичных метаболитов были определены с помощью газовой хроматографии в сочетании с масс-спектрометрией.
