Сержипанский складчатый пояс, геотектонически расположенный между южной частью домена Пернамбуку-Алагоас и северо-восточной границей кратона Сан-Франсиску, состоит из нескольких тектоно-стратиграфических доменов: Эстансия-Ваза-Баррис, Макуруре, Маранко-Посу-Редондо и Канинде. Домен Канинде расположен в виде полосы в общем направлении СВ-ЮЗ и отделен от других доменов крупными малоугловыми и высокоугловыми разломами сдвиговой зоны. Район исследования, расположенный вблизи города Баталья, штат Алагоас, включает в себя полосу метаседиментационных пород, называемых комплексом Аратикум, который является частью домена Канинде. Полевые работы показывают, что картируемый регион состоит из гранат-биотитовых сланцев с прослоями мраморов и кварцитов, гранат-биотитовых парагнейсов с прослоями амфиболитов и мраморов, причем эти две основные литологии разделены сдвиговой зоной Жакаре-дус-Гоменс (ZCJH). Сланцы и гнейсы имеют складчатость вблизи ZCJH с углами наклона от 15° до 70° и общим направлением NE-SW. Линзы метакальция, интеркалированные в сланцах и парагнейсах, встречаются в виде линзовидных тел, что согласуется с региональной структуризацией.
