Mythical Narratives of Jyotirlingas and Asthadasha Mahashaktipeeth is a garland of stories about the universal cosmic energy embodied as the Shiva-Shakti Tattva, the primordial anchoring power of the Universe. An inherent integral matrix of the Cosmos. The giver of life, nurture, protection and dissolution, culminating in the final reality, death. The eternal cosmic cycle since aeons, measureless, timeless, ageless, unfathomable, mystical and mysterious. The Soul or Atma seeking the Paramatma in its eternal quest for liberation from the unending cycle of life and death. These sites are mirrors of Shiva and Shakti, granting various boons to mankind as per the wishes of their believers. The book describes the prominent legends relating to the 12 Jyotirlingas and 18 Mahashaktipeethas. Starting from the origin of the Jyotirlingas to the story of Sati Devi’s self-immolation in Daksha Prajapati’s Yagna. The aftermath when Mahadev carries her corpse in his arms, roaming the universe in abject sorrow, and how MahaVishnu uses his Sudarshana Chakra to cut Sati Devi’s body into parts. These parts, when they fell in various parts of the Sub-continent, are revered as Shaktipeeths or Sites of Power. These were consecrated by Mahadev and continue to be worshipped as abodes of positive spiritual energy benefitting mankind. Along with it, the book mentions the 51 Shaktipeethas also.
