What do you have when you mix three talking wooden puppets that have no strings attached, a detective agency led by Dorothy and her partners, blind Scarecrow, and his seeing-eye dog Toto, and combine them with the Pirates of the Caribbean? You get a hilarious adventure called Mystery of the Missing Parents, a hilarious story filled with lots of puns. The tale begins with Tin Woodman giving a tree a good whacking in the Land of Oz, freeing five logs: two are the parents and the other three are their children. A cyclone swoops in, picks up the logs, and deposits them in Italy where a sculptor takes position of them. He quickly realizes that the logs can speak. Understanding the smaller logs are children, he carves them into two boys and a girl. Their parents, however, he makes candlesticks out of them, candlesticks that can light their own candles. Overnight, the parents vanish. Not sure if the parents left by choice or were abducted the children seek the help from Dorothy’s detective agency. Their search leads them to the Whale Inn in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where Pirates of the Caribbean are holding their parents hostage. To save the parents, Dorothy, Scarecrow, and Toto need to figure out how to get past Lion, the bouncer at the Whale Inn. Fortunately, Tin Woodman appears and lends a hand. This results in an outlandish showdown with the Pirates of the Caribbean.
