ONE MORNING AFTER I CAME HOME FROM A MIDNIGHT SHIFT, I SHOWERED AND LAID DOWN TO SLEEP BECAUSE I HAD BEEN UP ALL NIGHT WORKIN. SUDDENLY I HEARD AN AUDIBLE VOICE SAYIN 'FEED MY PEOPLE.' AGAIN THE VOICE SAID 'FEED MY PEOPLE.' IMMEDIATELY I OPEN MY EYES AND LOOKED AROUND BUT NO ONE WAS THERE. WITH ONLY ONE THOUGHT IT WAS THE VOICE OF THE LORD SPEAKIN TO ME FROM MY TEACHINGS UNDER VARIOUS PASTORS, BISHOPS AND EVANGELISTS THAT CAME TO THE CITY WHERE I LIVED. I CLOSED MY EYES WITH A SMILE AND WENT BACK TO SLEEP.SUNDAY MORNING CAME AND I HURRIED TO CHURCH AND TOLD THE PASTOR WHAT WAS SAID TO ME. WITH HIS HAND UNDER HIS CHIN, HE SAID OK AND WALKED AWAY. FROM THAT DAY ON SPIRITUALLY THE GATES OF HELLS OPENED UP ON ME FULL FORCE TRYIN TO KILL! STEAL! AND DESTROY MY SOUL BEFORE COMPLETION OF MY COMMISSION. I YET STAYED TO GET THE UNDERSTANDIN THAT I NEEDED FROM HIS MINISTRY BECAUSE HE WOULD BE THE ONE PAYING THE PRICE NOT ME! I HAVE HAD MANY DARK DAYS! SAD MOMENTS! HUNGRY! HOMELESS! DESTITUTE! ETC! ETC! NEVER DID I TRY UP Y HANDS AND SAY OH! FORGET IT! BUT I ENDURED AS A STRON AND MIGHTY SOLDIER ON THE BATTLEFIELD FOR LORD!HERE I AM NOW AGAIN WITH ANOTHER ONE OF THE LORD’S ACCOMPLISHMENT THROUGH THESE BOOKS OF POEMS AS GOD ALLOWS ME TO THANK HIM! FROM THE MANY YEARS OF MESSAGES, I TAPED THEM DEEP DOWN IN MY SOUL AND FORMED A BREAST PLATE OF ARMOUR AS I CONTINUED ON MY JOURNEY TO OF FORFILLMENT AS A PRIZE MARK OF THE HIGHEST CALLIN IN CHRIST JESUS! ONCE AGAIN, MANY ARE CALLED FROM FEW CHOSEN. WILL YOU BECOME ONE OF THE CHOSEN? NOT IN MY SHOES BUT YOUR OWN! PEACE WITH CHRIST!

  • Polishing the Silver
    Jennifer Chrystie
‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

  • One Kiss
    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

In his interpretation of Antigone, Seamus Heaney says, ‘Nobody can be sure they are always right.’ Maureen O’Shaughnessy’s The Truth about A further attends to this idea through various readings of the myth as portrayed by Sophocles, Brecht, Ted Hughes, Anne Carson and, most particularly, Euripides.
