Growing up on the rough sides of Rockford and Chicago, Illinois, Devin faced unimaginable challenges-from being raised without a mother to enduring severe physical abuse from his father. Suddenly at just 13-years-old, he was thrown into the foster care system after his fathers imprisonment, setting him on an unstable path that led him through numerous homeless shelters, thirteen different foster homes, and a group home. Along the way, he encountered life-threatening struggles and difficult situations, including sleeping in bus stations and airports. Yet, through it all, he never gave up. This memoir chronicles how Devin defied the odds, fought through adversity, and ultimately found a path towards success.
