In 1994 on a hot Indian summer’s day, I was eight months pregnant with my son Robbie sitting on the Lock Heart Beach in the kootenay’s skipping rocks across the water. I felt the warm sunshine on my face with a breath taking breeze that blew through my hair. The water’s waves flowed in rhythm, splashing against my feet. I’m captured later that evening by pink violet yellow sunset, with huge fluffy clouds that look like marsh mellows in the sky. I gaze over Kootenay Lake and think my family will always have a paradise vacation spot . The most beautiful place in the whole wide world. Four years later and my second child Ginger is born. The following year our family buys our first home in Mission , B.C. Mission has a nice community. There’s a Real Canadian Superstore and that’s were I work part time. I also volunteer at the my children’s elementary school and I sing in the Serenata’s choir. My birthday is in December and I’ll be 39 this year in 2006. The first person in our family to go to the kootneny’s was Pat’s grandfather Doug Carpenter after world war 2. Doug and his Wife Hilda fell in love with the land and lived there for some time. They had two sons, one named Doug Jr. and other son Rob Carpenter who’s Pats father. It has been one generation to the next, where now Pat Carpenter brings us to the Kootenay’s. Hope you enjoy reading my story.
