I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 at the age of 50. To me it was a death sentence, as I watched my beloved mother die of this dreaded disease when I was only 12. When the doctor gave me the results of my needle biopsy, I had a choice to make. I was not ready to die but didn’t want to use my energy fighting, either, so I decided that I would learn from this disease, take from it what I could, and so I did.Cancer taught me so much. It taught me how very precious life is and how much I had taken for granted. Cancer helped me renew old friendships, make new ones, and renew my relationships with family and God. I thank God every day for giving me that opportunity, even coming at such a high cost.Cancer came as a thief in the night to destroy me, but instead I have used it to enhance my life. I hope this book will inspire you to do the same. The road has not been easy but oh, so worthwhile.
