Sobre IBD

A deeply personal account of one sailor’s transformation from a tough, angry young recruit to a faith-filled family man, told through the eyes of his son. Robert G. Deecki Sr. enlisted in the United States Navy in 1946, driven by the loss of friends in World War II and a determination to defend his country. From boot camp at Great Lakes to the fire rooms of destroyers in the Pacific, from crossing the Equator to the chaos of the Korean War, this narrative captures the raw reality of naval service in the 1940s and 1950s-complete with harsh training, wartime tragedy, unlikely friendships, and moments of dark humor. Based on the author’s father’s dictated recollections and the navy stories shared during weekly haircuts, this creative non-fiction work preserves a legacy of sacrifice, pride, and commitment to family, faith, and country. Includes the original song 'Lord, What’s It Like To Be In Heaven?' with lyrics by Robert G. Deecki Sr.
