Der Schutzauftrag für Kinder und Jugendliche ist eine zentrale Aufgabe der öffentlichen Kinder- und Jugendhilfe. Er fordert von den zuständigen Fachkräften einen souveränen Umgang mit geltenden Rechtsvorschriften, Handlungssicherheit auch bei sich teils widersprechenden Interessenlagen, aber auch die Fähigkeit, im Geflecht der zuständigen Hilfesysteme die eigene Fachlichkeit zur Geltung zu bringen. Insofern ist dieser Band zum einen eine praktische Orientierungshilfe für die Bewältigung solcher, und auf den Kinderschutz bezogener, Handlungsprobleme. Zum anderen kann er auch zur Reflexion des praktischen Handelns genutzt werden, dann nämlich, wenn problematische Aspekte der Kinderschutzarbeit am „Fall“ angesprochen werden und wissenschaftlich reflektiert werden.
