With the summer tourists long since gone, the all but deserted hamlet of Murray Falls becomes the site of a devastating avalanche. With most of the town buried under several feet of snow, the few remaining residents come together to help where they can and await the arrival of the National Guard. The trials and tribulations that follow not only affect Kirsten personally but also the Hacketts, a family that all but has adopted Kirsten as one of their own. Kirsten with the help of her childhood friend, Joe Hackett, overcomes a lifelong fear and discovers a new direction and purpose for her life.
