Mountain Miracle is a story of both physical strength and strength of character. It is a story of deep friendships and loyalty. A perfect example of 'love thy neighbor' and what can be accomplished while working along the side of others toward a common purpose. Kirsten Thorne is recently divorced. She is all alone in the world yet again. Both of her parents are dead and she has no other family to spend the holidays with. She is questioning her choices in life and wonders where she will go now. She wonders if she would have made better choices if her mother hadn’t died when she was so young. Kirsten decides to escape to the solitude of her beloved mountains and her retreat in Murray Falls over the two-week school break. She packs her SUV and leaves Lawerence, North Dakota behind in search of some answers. Kirsten’s planned quiet get away turns into much more than she could ever have conceived. With the summer tourists long since gone, the all but deserted hamlet of Murray Falls becomes the site of a devastating avalanche. With most of the town buried under several feet of snow, the few remaining residents come together to help where they can and await the arrival of the National Guard. The trials and tribulations that follow not only affect Kirsten personally but also the Hacketts, a family that all but has adopted Kirsten as one of their own. Kirsten with the help of her childhood friend, Joe Hackett, overcomes a lifelong fear and discovers a new direction and purpose for her life.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
