Every morning, on the asphalt roads of the capital cities and the dusty tracks of the villages, the same ritual is played out: children, often hungry and frightened, bags on their backs and hope slung over their shoulders, walk to school. Behind them, whole families bleed, investing what little they have in a promise. They have faith in a better future for their offspring, sealed by a diploma. They expect a return on their investment.The only motivation for this education can be summed up in a single word: success. This word has led us to write the variable motivation (our title) in the singular. Everywhere, when we hear 'this child will succeed, my son has succeeded', the school remains the reference point. This psychological and social message needs to be clarified.
