She examines reform comedies by Colley Cibber, Susanna Centlivre, Richard Steele, Charles Johnson, and Benjamin Hoadly within the context of emergent trends in finance capitalism, imperial nationalism, political factionalism, domestic ideology and middling class-consciousness.
