Questo volume contiene lo scritto di mio pugno buttato giù durante gli ultimi giorni di vita di mia madre e quelli immediatamente successivi. Le motivazioni di questa scelta sono di natura catartica, di elaborazione ma anche di documentazione e condivisione. Possedendo uno spirito fondamentalmente umanista, questo è per me il modo migliore per ricordare, celebrare e condannare. Gli eventi, le riflessioni e i ricordi della mia infanzia, come della malattia, sono riportati in ordine sparso. Come li ho pensati e mi sono sovvenuti nella mente, ma uniti da un sottile fil rouge, come piccole tessere di un unico mosaico. Lo scritto è diretto, crudo, a tratti brutale, come l’esperienza vissuta da me e da mia madre. Molti potrebbero maliziosamente pensare che alcuni aspetti siano stati drammatizzati. Non è questo il caso. I fatti riportati sono precisi e fedeli, nei limiti della mia memoria. Le considerazioni e quanto narrato della terapia e della malattia in generale, sono frutto della mia personale percezione e opinione. Un’opinione basata su fatti concreti e reali ma che rimane pur sempre un’opinione non essendo io un medico o in nessun modo qualificato se non nell’amore di un figlio per la propria madre e nella sofferenza profonda e indelebile nel vederla spegnersi e soffrire giorno dopo giorno, mese dopo mese, senza speranza, come nessuna persona dovrebbe.
