Este livro descreve a utilização de impulsos de laser de femtosegundo em combinação com ambientes secos e vários ambientes líquidos. Aborda a evolução de micro/nanoestruturas, variações na cristalinidade e nano-dureza após a interação de impulsos de laser de femtosegundo com a superfície da prata. A formação de óxido de prata, hidreto de prata e hidróxido de prata devido ao aumento da reatividade química da prata após irradiação com laser de femtosegundo é discutida em correlação com as propriedades superficiais e mecânicas. Para este efeito, os alvos de prata foram submetidos a ablação com laser de Ti: safira durante vários números de impulsos laser em ambientes de ar, etanol, propanol e água desionizada. Foram utilizadas várias técnicas de diagnóstico como o Microscópio Eletrónico de Varrimento (SEM), a Espectroscopia de Raios X por Dispersão de Energia (EDS), a Difractometria de Raios X (XRD), a Espectroscopia Raman e técnicas de ensaio de nano-dureza para correlacionar as variações na cristalinidade e na composição química da superfície com as características da superfície e a nano-dureza após a interação de impulsos laser de femtosegundo.
