Energia geotermalna jest potencjalnym źródłem energii odnawialnej, które jest niezawodne, ekonomiczne, przyjazne dla środowiska i zrównoważone. Liczne badania geologiczne wykazały, że Słowacja jest stosunkowo bogata w zasoby geotermalne. Modelowanie 3D stanowi bardzo przydatne narzędzie wspomagające poszukiwania geotermalne. Celem projektu było stworzenie modelu skał zbiornikowych oraz scharakteryzowanie potencjału geotermalnego regionu podtatrzańskiego na Słowacji. Z geotermalnego punktu widzenia największy potencjał mają jednostki mezozoiczne reprezentowane przez napy Choc i Krizna, leżące pod skałami paleogenowymi. Książka może okazać się przydatna dla potencjalnych inwestorów zainteresowanych rozwojem i wykorzystaniem energii geotermalnej w regionie basenu popradzkiego. Wyniki modelowania geotermalnego mogą służyć jako wskazówka przy wyborze lokalizacji dla szczegółowych badań sejsmicznych i geologicznych oraz przy opracowywaniu studium wykonalności wykorzystania energii geotermalnej.
