Con motivo del Año de la Misericordia, que se celebrará durante el 2016, el Papa Francisco promulgó la bula Misericordiae Vultus (El rostro de la Misericordia). La Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a través de Ediciones Uc, y la Conferencia Episcopal presentan este documento como una nueva edición de su línea de textos pontificios. En el texto, el Santo Padre no solo sugiere un plan programático detallado sobre cómo vivir este tiempo a nivel personal, local y global, sino que desarrolla el concepto cristiano de misericordia, explicando que es como el amor de un padre o una madre que se conmueven en lo más profundo de sus entrañas por su hijo (cf.
