While the book is classified as "fiction" Milo really is her emotional support service dog, riding everywhere in Kay's lap. ALS is an awful disease but Kay is determined to make as much good come from her diagnosis as possible. She has witnessed, first hand, the need to educate people on disabilities. Her hope is that this book will not only spread awareness about ALS but also teach people (young and old) to treat people who look different the same as they would anyone else.
