Dyskurs Ikhwan (Bractwa Muzułmańskiego) w Egipcie pod koniec II wojny światowej wywodzi się z rzeczywistości rozumianej przez Egipcjan i muzułmanów i nie można go rozpatrywać w oderwaniu od politycznego dziedzictwa egipskiego państwa narodowego. Sayyid Qutb, który jest tutaj traktowany jako reprezentant egipskiego sposobu myślenia, w swoich dziełach dostarcza bogatego wglądu w współczesne rozumienie religii i polityki, które nieustannie precyzuje w trakcie swojej tragicznej biografii.
