Leukemia is one of the most complex and challenging diseases in hematology, characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow and peripheral blood. Affecting both children and adults, it occurs in various clinical and biological forms, each with distinct patterns of progression, prognosis, and response to treatment. In recent decades, scientific and technological advances have significantly improved our understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in the development of leukemia. Research has progressed from classical diagnostic approaches based on morphological examination of blood and bone marrow to advanced molecular and genetic techniques that enable the identification of specific mutations and relevant prognostic markers. This book explores modern methods for studying leukemia and their importance in improving diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic strategies.
