Elle commence le récit en plongeant le lecteur dans la nature enchanteresse de l’île et de la région qui regorgent d’énormes potentiels économiques, touristiques et culturels, mais qui, paradoxalement, restent très peu développés.Élani l’orpheline grandit comme pousse une petite herbe sauvage. Sans amour maternel et presque laissée à elle-même, elle tente de survivre dans un environnement familial hostile jusqu’à ce que le destin mette sur sa route une belle âme charitable et très affectueuse qui lui redonne goût à la vie. Si son mariage brise un temps tout ce qu’elle a patiemment construit au fil des ans, elle décide de partir au loin à la recherche du chemin de la guérison intérieure.Un roman-essai où la réalité et la fiction se côtoient sans vraiment se mélanger et où les ombres du passé meurent difficilement.
