Im Rahmen einer qualitativen Studie entwickelt Elena Höpfner nach offenen Interviews mit geflüchteten Menschen eine gegenstandsbezogene Theorie im doppelten Sinne. Sie untersucht, welche Dinge Menschen mit auf die Flucht nehmen und welche Rolle diese Dinge für die Flüchtenden spielen. Die Ergebnisse der Studie sind ein komplexes (Selbst-)Bild von Geflüchteten innerhalb eines Spannungsfeldes von Autonomie und Heteronomie, einige Einsichten in das komplizierte Verhältnis zwischen Menschen und Dingen sowie ein nuanciertes gesellschaftspolitisches Verständnis von Flucht und flüchtenden Menschen.
