In 2014, while transiting from Dubai to Asmara, he was abducted by Yemeni intelligence officers at Sana’a International Airport, bribed by the Ethiopian government. Blindfolded and handcuffed, he was transported to Ethiopia, where he was placed in solitary confinement.
