簡學樵（1933～）， 台灣南投縣草屯鎮人，出身漢學世家，曾任教於鎮內的小學、國中、大專，直至退休。退休前之工作是以音樂與國文教育為主，日常生活則長期浸淫於庭園造景、盆 景栽種，以及詩、文寫作之境，此積極的人生在他匠心獨具的藝術家涵養中落實了生命意趣的創造﹐成果豐實。退休二十餘年來仍孜孜矻矻致力於推廣日文教育，教 學係採平易近人之「歌唱學日語」方式，結合日本民謠與古文學的教授方式，頗受鄉親族人的肯定與愛戴。本書為作者個人生命點滴的回憶錄，時間點由日據時期延伸至光復後的台灣，以及當今。文字時而輕靈、時而愁苦、時而自娛，頗有沈復《浮生六記》的生活藝術與文風，卻又不時透露台灣式的幽默與認命。歷經殖民的悲苦，走過起飛的年代，作者始終保持簡單的生活態度與夢想。單純的農家生活、單純的教員經驗以及單純對人倫與禮義之邦的渴望，建構了他單純的生命旅程。沒有華麗的故事，卻有感人的生命力，在在呈現台灣純樸的庶民文化與儒家思想的價值觀。 3
