Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Afrikawissenschaften - Kultur und Landeskunde, Note: 2,0, Universität Leipzig (Institut für Afrikanistik), Veranstaltung: Medien in Afrika, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Seit 1956, dem Jahr der Unabhängigkeit,1 ist die politische Lage im Sudan mehr alsfragil. Mehr als zehn zivile und militärische Regierungen und mehr als 15Putschversuche trugen zu dieser instabilen Situation bei.2 Verschiedene Konfliktehaben das Land immer wieder in ihrem Würgegriff: Der Bürgerkrieg im Südsudan,der Beja-Konflikt im Ostsudan und der Konflikt von Darfur. Doch auch andereafrikanische Länder werden immer wieder von Bürgerkriegen und Konfliktenheimgesucht. Dabei spielen die Medien, die oft von staatlicher Seite gelenkt werden,eine große Rolle. Betrachtet man sich das am Beispiel Ruandas, welches hier späterals Vergleichsbeispiel herangezogen werden soll, so ist die Rolle vonRundfunksendern, insbesondere die Rolle von RTML (Radio Télévision des MillesCollines) bei den Vorkommnissen von 1994 oft untersucht worden. Doch welcheRolle nahmen die Medien in den sudanesischen Konflikten ein? In dieser Arbeit sollder südsudanesische Konflikt und die Rolle der Medien, insbesondere jene desRadios näher beleuchtet werden. Dafür werde ich die Fallstudie „The Multiple Voicesof Sudanese Airspace' von Wendy James als Grundlage nehmen. Hierbei werde ichauch die Entwicklung der Medien im Sudan skizzieren sowie einen Blick auf andereafrikanische Länder, vorrangig Ruanda, Burundi und die Demokratische RepublikKongo, werfen.
