Casey, a big-eyed brown-and-black pup began her life as a stray that nobody wanted.. She was hungry and homeless. I first met Casey one warm summer night at church. The last thing I needed was another dog, as I had two at home. However, when I looked into those deep brown eyes, I knew she was for me! She proved to be the smartest dog I ever owned. Show her a trick one time, she'd nail it. Casey became my constant companion as my husband was away, working, through the week most of the time. It was such a joy for me to show her new tricks so I could have her show them off to my husband when he came home. One sad morning, my Casey was hit by a car and died immediately. I was crushed and devastated. As I laid on my bed for hours, tears streaming down my face, I found myself asking God why He took my Casey. As my tears finally stopped, out of nowhere, it came to me, maybe God just needed a puppy. But why? Maybe a book would help others who had lost pets. While not biblically correct, I feel it is a book of comfort and hope in a time of despair. I pray that it helps a child deal with loss and helps a loved one find a way to bring comfort to a child they love
