Melissa e Mattia, uniti dalla sete di conoscenza e dalla passione per gli enigmi, si ritrovano insieme in vacanza in Sardegna. Vivono un’incredibile avventura tra mostri ed intrighi nei sotterranei di un Nuraghe presso il complesso nuragico di Barumini. Risolvendo un enigma vengono catapultati in un pauroso mondo sotterraneo senza regole, che li mette a dura prova tra labirinti e trappole. Solo la fortuna che ha il nome di Francesco riesce a salvarli, per poi rivelarsi un discendente di una stirpe di cavalieri templari custode di un antico tesoro. La trama e ricca di colpi di scena magistrali e di suspense adrenalinica comparabili ai testi per adulti come gialli o thriller. La morale del bene che vince sul male è espressa in modo sottile e metaforico, mai banale e scontato. Altri personaggi sono: il professore di matematica molto severo di Mattia nonché papà di Melissa; la dottoressa Liberata, compagna dello stesso, che si rivela persona inaffidabile, pericolosa e malvagia; i genitori di Mattia, in perenne contrasto e conflitto. Molti piccoli lettori potranno immedesimarsi nelle avventure di Melissa e Mattia perché intelligentemente il punto di vista della narrazione e del suo sviluppo è il loro, che posseggono un universo interiore diverso dai grandi e spesso non li comprendono, non condividendone i valori effimeri e superficiali legati all’esteriorità e alla mania di perfezionismo.
