Abren Medloe has to go on the run. Wanted as a dangerous heretic. But what is that beautiful, unearthly thing he sees? An angel? A demon? What does it want? Is it evil or benign? Is it even real? All he knows is that his life has been twisted upside down. He has to leave behind his home, his job and his friends. But wherever he goes, there is no escape. Taygret Egring is living a quiet, happy life until revolution and war convulse her country. But that is the least of her worries. After wreaking drastic revenge for a horrible crime, she too is forced to flee and give up everything. She begins a perilous journey to another land in pursuit of her lost lover. But she is also one of the few. A spirit offers to help her, to guide her to her destination. But even if she gets there, what price will she have to pay for its aid? Taygret and Abren are two very diffenent people, from two different countries, but what they have in common is drawing them together. Spirits have become part of their lives, but to what end? And what will it cost them? Are these bewitching, enigmatic beings as wholesome as they seem? Or are they malevolent manipulators determined to use humans like puppets for their own mysterious purposes? And will Abren and Taygret survive the turmoil they have been caught up in? Discover their dramatic story set in a time of upheaval and where the unthinkable lurks in the shadows.
