En la situación política actual es importante reflexionar sobre las masculinidades, basándose en los recursos propios de la teología: los hombres fuertes dominan la escena política; los movimientos #MeToo y #ChurchToo han dado voz a las víctimas silenciadas de los abusos sexuales perpetrados principalmente por hombres; las empresas industriales y financieras están mayoritariamente gestionadas por hombres que controlan así los recursos financieros, ambientales y sociales.La teología está llamada a afrontar los ideales de la masculinidad con una doble intención: por un lado, la reflexión autocrítica sobre cómo el cristianismo ha apoyado la creación y el reforzamiento de ideas de masculinidad que sustentan las estructuras jerárquicas en las que (algunos) hombres se benefician a expensas de «otros» subordinados, hombres y mujeres. Por otro lado, las teologías pueden contribuir con recursos creativos para imaginar modos de realizar las masculinidades que fomenten la igualdad, las visiones de esperanza y sanación para individuos y grupos. 4
