Gernot Hinterleitner und Philipp Hornung verbinden über ein wirtschaftswissenschaftliches Experiment zwei Gebiete der Finanzmarktforschung. Zuerst wird die Marktqualität unterschiedlicher Handelsformen analysiert, anschließend wird der Insiderhandel innerhalb dieser Marktformen betrachtet. Die Autoren zeigen, dass eine Eröffnungsauktion die Informationseffizienz des Eröffnungspreises gegenüber einer ausschließlich kontinuierlichen Auktion signifikant erhöht. Ein positiver Spillover Effect erzeugt hierbei auch eine höhere Marktqualität. Das Verhalten von Kapitalmarktteilnehmern mit Insiderinformation verdeutlicht, dass Insider auch bei Konkurrenz untereinander ihre Aufträge möglichst unauffällig platzieren. Zusätzlich werden geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede sichtbar, wenn das Risiko der Aufdeckung abgeschätzt wird.
