Finding it hard to stand up to his father’s incessant abuse, Lunga decides to leave home, leaving his mother with the overly traditional and abusive father. As young as he had been, his father had been forcing him to quit school and go to the rural areas to herd his cattle. He even went as far as comparing him to the late Nelson Mandela, claiming that the boy was lazy and useless. While on the run, Lunga got hooked into a life of gangsterism and drugs. Through his new lifestyle, he learned to overcome adversity despite not having a good education. His departure from home subsequently left a dark cloud hanging around his home. A lot of unpleasant occurrences threatened his parents’ marriage. Later when he eventually came back home, tragedy struck, leading to his father’s arrest. The once happy family was slowly falling apart but in the end unity managed to prevail.
