In his first book, visionary social care leader Liam Palmer, shares anecdotes and well researched articles to challenge, inform and ultimately raise standards in the care home sector. He applies his strategic thinking to a number of complex problems within care e.g. the ''agency problem'' and how to take charge of a challenged home. His skill is to unpick these dynamics and identify the drivers and forces at work. Common themes are accountability and the importance of using empathy. He weaves in elements from mindfulness, staff empowerment and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and CBT. Problems are opportunities that need our best efforts - everyone matters and ultimately he believes that delivering great care comes down to effective leadership.
