En este íntimo retrato de la juventud y la marginalidad se unen las historias de Tano, un adolescente rebelde de Santiago que es enviado al sur de Chile a vivir con su padre luego de cometer un delito, y Cheo, un joven mapuche tímido y víctima de bullying, pero comprometido con la compleja lucha del pueblo mapuche en un duro ambiente de represión policial. A pesar de sus diferencias, ambos forjan una amistad que los ayuda a enfrentar sus propios miedos y a comprender que la confianza es posible cuando aprendemos a mirar genuinamente al otro. Mala junta fue elogiada y galardonada con más de 40 premios nacionales e internacionales, entre ellos Mejor Guion y Mejor Dirección en los Premios Pedro Sienna, Premio del Público en el 39.º Festival de Cine Latinoamericano de Toulouse (Francia), y Mejor Película Chilena en el 23.º Festival Internacional de Cine de Valdivia. Además, fue nominada a dos Premios Platino del Cine Iberoamericano y estrenada en cines comerciales de Chile y Francia. 10
