Michael Georg Conrad (1846-1927) war ein deutscher Schriftsteller des Naturalismus. Aus dem Buch: 'Die Seele des Königs wußte wenig dreinzureden. Sie war von je zur Friedfertigkeit gestimmt und nicht auf Gewaltsamkeiten eingeübt. Sie war allerwege für konstitutionelle Ordnung und gestattete sich keine persönlichen Übergriffe. Was sie in diesem Falle auch gesagt hätte, es wäre für den Ausgang so belanglos gewesen, wie die Praktiken der Heilkünstler und die wortreichen, schön gesetzten Wundergebete der Priester. Ein mittlerer Wille, der nie auf hohe Lebenspolitik im Heldenmaß lossteuerte, eine verschüchterte Daseinskraft lag von der Krankheit hingestreckt und atmete sich aus in kurzen, zaghaften Zügen.'
