Mash Jongg Posse is a work of fiction which takes place in a small town in Northern Michigan and features the lives of a group of women who meet to play Mah Jongg on a weekly basis. Their stories intersect in various ways and their rich histories with each other play a major part in their interactions. When new players join the group they add the layers of their own lives on the existing tapestry. Mah Jongg Posse continues as the follow-up to Mah Jongg Confidential, focusing on a group of women who regularly gather to play Mah Jongg. The main characters include Mrs. M., who is intensely private, and Ellen, a social butterfly. Molly and Kat are the group’s other regular players who are lifelong friends. Their intersecting family relationships and friendships play into the entertaining and sometimes emotional interactions that take place. The every day magic of friendship and humor of family life are continuing themes. The Mah Jongg group serves as the central force in the women’s lives, providing stability and camaraderie as they face life’s challenges and celebrate its victories. Events often unfold in unexpected ways, with unintended consequences and happy accidents setting the stage for interesting dynamics. Through it all, the Mah Jongg Posse faces whatever comes with resilience and wit, making their journey as unpredictable as it is entertaining.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present.
