Magnification has become an integral part of modern endodontics, significantly enhancing visualization, precision, and treatment outcomes. This library dissertation reviews the evolution of magnification from simple loupes to advanced dental operating microscopes and endoscopic systems. It discusses the principles of magnification and illumination, various magnification devices, and their applications in routine and complex endodontic procedures. The dissertation highlights the role of magnification in locating additional canals, managing calcified canals, retrieving separated instruments, repairing perforations, detecting cracks, performing retreatment, and endodontic microsurgery. It also compares conventional and magnification-assisted endodontics, demonstrating the advantages of improved accuracy, ergonomics, and clinical success with magnification. Recent advances, including digital microscopy, 3D visualization, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality, are also discussed. Overall, magnification has transformed endodontic practice by improving diagnosis, facilitating minimally invasive procedures, enhancing operator efficiency, and increasing the long-term success.
