Booker is a spider who lives with his family-wife Silken and five children-in a community of other spiders. The community is located in an abandoned cabin, which has been mythologized in a legend about mysterious beings who built the place, then left it, with the warning that they would someday return.As is foreshadowed, Bart, the son of the previous owner, turns up and sweeps away the spider community. The spiders survive, but their shelter and food sources are taken away, leaving them in dire straits. Booker takes it upon himself to win back the cabin for the sake of his family and friends, but he soon learns that diplomacy may be more effective than force in achieving his aims.
