Sus cincos actos logran una tensión dramática inédita, donde entrechocan la voracidad de una ambición insaciable, marcada por la crueldad, la felonía y el cinismo, con la aflicción y el remordimiento. Kenneth Rexroth escribió a propósito de esta obra: “Macbeth es un salto desde el bien y el mal para sumergirse en un universo de valores morales invertidos. La realidad se envilece y el infierno se vuelve palpable, tangible. La secuencia cronológica, la voz, el espacio y la trama se van desfondando, como bajo un hechizo alucinatorio, impregnados de oscuridades y violencias”. 10
