El origen de los Quilmes se hunde en la bruma de la historia. Hay varias teorías al respecto y la más aceptable, dada la similitud racial con pueblos altoperuanos y peruanos, es que provinieran del norte. Habrían realizado una larga peregrinación en busca de una tierra de promisión de la cual hacer su patria y la hallaron al noroeste de la provincia de Tucumán, en una de las áreas arqueológicas más ricas de Argentina: el Valle de Santa María o Yocavil.The origin of the QuiImes is sunken in the mist of prehistory. There are various theories about this and the most acceptable one, given the racial likeness with de alto Peruvian and Peruvian peoples, is that they came from the north. They may have done a long pilgrimage searching the promised land to make their homeland and they found it in the northwest of the province of Tucuman, in one of the richest archeological areas in Argentina: the Santa María or Yocavil valley. 10
