Por supuesto, Roma tomará finalmente cartas en el asunto, y empezará a efectuar una serie de campañas militares, parciales, que no solventan el problema, hasta que Pompeyo el Grande lanza su gran operación por todo el mar Mediterráneo, con lo que la piratería deja de amenazar la subsistencia de Roma. 10
