Little Jarvis is a historical fiction book written by Molly Elliot Seawell and published in 1890. The story is set during the American Revolution and follows the life of a young boy named Jarvis who serves as a cabin boy on the American warship, the Wasp. Jarvis is only 13 years old, but he is brave and determined to do his part in the war effort. As the Wasp sails to various locations to fight the British, Jarvis faces many challenges and dangers. He witnesses the horrors of war, experiences the loss of his shipmates, and even gets captured by the British at one point. Despite these hardships, Jarvis remains loyal to his country and is determined to continue serving on the Wasp. The book is based on the true story of a young cabin boy named John Waters who served on the Wasp during the American Revolution. Seawell’s fictionalized account of Waters’ experiences is a captivating tale of bravery, patriotism, and perseverance. The book is a great read for anyone interested in history, particularly the American Revolution, and for young readers who enjoy stories of adventure and courage. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
