Scott grew up in Austin, Texas. He has studied at Howard Payne University where he received his B.A. in Greek and Hebrew. He graduated from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with an M.Div. concentrating in Missions. He also studied Arabic and Islamic Studies in North Africa before moving to Scotland as a missionary with the International Mission Board leading the Scotland team in Evangelism strategies. He as pastored churches in Missouri, Michigan, Scotland and Texas where he currently serves as Lead Pastor of North Orange Baptist Church in Orange, Texas. He is the devoted husband of D’Lisa and the proud father of a Youth Pastor, Austin; a United States Marine, Elisabeth; and a future missionary, Hannah. His 'off' time is spent playing at golf, digesting Soren Kierkegaard and antique shopping with D’Lisa.A loving home and good morals does not necessarily a good Christian make. If Christ is not introduced early in life as a personal Savior, anything can happen. Life Lessons Learned in the Backseat of a Ford is the story of a boy turned teen turned anti-establishmentarian turned Christ-follower. It is one person’s story, but it is the story of many who choose to search for life in self-destruction and self-pity. The answer is the same answer it has been for over 2000 years - a relationship with a God who actually cares, searches for and discovers a person who needs to know there is a God who loves him or her. From living in an old car to sharing the love of Christ in the streets and churches of North Africa, Scotland and America, this is the story of how God can transform one of the most selfish of individuals into one whom God can use for His Kingdom.

We’ve been duped into removing prayer from the center of our churches and have placed it on the periphery or semi-periphery.  What we’re witnessing today in our churches, and in society at large, is that legacy of prayerlessness.  Church leadership may be hesitant and embarrassed to admit it, but there is a direct correlation between our spiritual weakness and our lack of corpo...

If God is good, why do we get sick? When God created the world, He declared: "It is good." But then came the Fall, and with it sickness and death. In this heart-tugging monograph, Dr. Davis McGuirt draws from both his training in theology and the personal agony of watching his father die from cancer to provide a variety of biblical reasons for why we get sick. We are also remin...
