Kussszenen gab es selten und wenn, dann waren sie immer mit einer gewissen Komik verbunden. Anders war es auch nicht möglich, sich an dieses Tabu heranzuwagen. Charles Chaplin hat 1914 seinen ersten Film in eigener Regie gedreht. Der ursprüngliche Film dauerte zwanzig Minuten und trug den Titel Twenty minutes of love. Ich werde mich hier jedoch mit der französischen Version (Vingt minutes d’amor), die auf zehn Minuten gekürzt wurde, auseinandersetzen.
