Al finalizar su actividad profesional como psicoterapeuta, tras más cuarenta y cinco años de ejercicio, reflexiona el Dr. Lledó acerca de todos estos años, centrándose en los cambios producidos desde el principio hasta el final de los mismos, tanto a nivel personal, como profesional y social. Toma como foco de atención principal y eje de todo el libro los conceptos de libertad e identidad, sin desdeñar la importancia de la esperanza en todos los procesos vitales y trata de hacer un análisis de algunos de los cambios más importantes que se han producido en el entorno psicosocial. Aunque todo el relato está impregnado básicamente de fundamentos psicológicos, hace alguna incursión en aspectos filosóficos relacionados con la libertad y en cuestiones psicopedagógicas. También hace alusión a la arqueología, ciencia con la que ha estado implicado los últimos años y relaciona su experiencia en este campo con la psicoterapia, que ha sido siempre su ocupación principal. En ambos campos tiene diferentes publicaciones. 10
